Upcycled Plastics Mural
What: We will be creating an upcycled plastics mural at Way around the theme of Ocean Life.
Why: Students explored “garbage island” through a routine called “Zoom In”. We observed and described the different items we recognized and what the image might be. From there, we dicussed our impact on the enviroment and how some artists and engineers have found ways to upcyle plastics into art or building materials.
When: Please continue to collect plastic caps (bottles, markers, etc.), small plastic broken pieces, or toys that you no longer want and would otherwise throw away. Students can bring in these (CLEAN) colorful plastics that will help to build our mural and keep these plastics out of our oceans and landfills.
We still need A LOT of blue.
What Can We Do?
Collecting colorful plastics for our mural will be a huge help. Another great way to engage your student in the process of creating the mural would be to try making one yourself at home! You can use plastic pieces you’ve collected to create a mini mosaic at home.
